The Turtles are Coming!!

Over the Rainbow Preschool hosts the Turtle Float Race as an annual fundraiser. Turtles race down Boulder Creek. Winners of the races and drawings win great prizes. Over The Rainbow is a community-based cooperative, not-for-profit preschool. Their environmental, literacy-based curriculum and experiential approach encourage children to explore, inquire and express themselves through language, science, art, math, dramatic play, and music.

For more information and to purchase a turtle online, go to www.overtherainbow-preschool.org. Be sure to stop by their booth-Space 35, located in Creek Row during the Festival.

2010 Sponsors

Below is a sampling of some of our wonderful artists for 2010.

Our 2009 "Best of Fine Art" winner John Marino returns again to exhibit his incredible photography. John spends many weeks a year up at Rocky Mountain National Park photographing and his image of a wild iris is featured on this year's Festival Guide cover.

Painter Stephen Koury returns for his third year at High Peaks. Stephen comes from Florida and he was our 2009 "Best of Painting" award winner. He specializes in wildlife and nature paintings.

Claudia Ariss of "Eye Candy Glassworks" is one of our many local artists in the show this year. Claudia has only been creating artwork for three years and is already well known for her pieces that look great either on a wall or in a window.

Deanna Hood is a silversmith, glass bead maker and found object artist from Centennial. Her pieces include everything from old watch parts, typewriter keys from the 30's and antique optical lenses to silver, copper and her own flame worked glass beads. Deanna showed her work in Nederland years ago and we welcome her back to this year's event.

Bruce White started drawing at age four and by age seventeen, he was selling paintings at juried art shows. An award winning archetectural illustrator and graphic designer, his work includes scenes as diverse as Snowmass, Colorado and Venice, Italy. This is Bruce's first year exhibiting at the High Peaks Art Festival.

Suzanne Buczkowski from "A Faerytale Explosion" delighted us two years ago with her handcrafted fairy wings and returns this year with a fabulous array of fantasy work.

Gary Russell comes to Nederland each year from Rifle, Colorado with his unique and fabulous ironwork. In an era of plasma cutters and laser/computer generated figures, Gary still uses a hand-held flame cutting torch to cut his artistic designs out of steel plate, and is known by his peers as one of the best 'cutters' in the country.

Byron Williams of Accoceek Baskets and Gourds was last year's Best of Show artist. A full-time studio artist for fifteen years, Byron winters in Maryland and summers in Saguache, Colorado where he plans to open a gallery. Each of his pieces are one-of-a-kind.
